On the TectonicsAbstract: The present paper opens a series of publications on the study of architectonics, architecture and philosophy of culture proposed by several authors. Scientific terminology is polemical, and the results of discussions rarely become the subject of publication. Commonly used words in modern language are sometimes so far removed from the original meaning that the archaeology of these meanings itself is both fascinating and incredibly useful practice, and requires an interdisciplinary and intercultural discussion about the results. In modern languages, words such as tectonics, architecture and architectonics now represent only vague references to the original meaning; they are used by different fields of knowledge in different configurations. The search for the meaning of linguistic terms is, of course, the task of cultural researchers of the widest possible range, since in highly specialized audiences there is not enough unanimity and agreement in the interpretations currently accepted by scientists.
One of these commonly used, but not always correctly understood terms is the word «Tectonics». The present paper proposes to return to the original senses that were put into it in the 19th century (with the beginning of scientific use) and in Antiquity, from where this concept came. The text is illustrated with examples of misconceptions and attempts to free the true meaning from subsequent interpretations. The author's concept makes it possible to establish closer links with subsequent stages of intellectual development. The paper pays equal attention to the search for the «original truth» and the original representations.
Key words: Tectonics, architecture, architectonics, order, archaeology of meanings, theory of culture, philosophy of architecture, K. Boetticher.
