National Motives in Russian Printed Music Products of the Second Half of the 19th – Early 20th CenturiesAbstract: The article is part of a project aimed at studying visual reception in the field of diverse artis-tic and cultural products by spectators, readers, listeners, etc. A number of monuments trace the peculiarities of the reception of musical practices in different cultures and in different historical pe-riods. The relevance of the study is determined by the great significance of music visualization in updating the language of new artistic methods, transforming aesthetic concepts and the figurative-semantic structure of works of art.
In the space of emerging mass culture of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, the body of printed musical products stands somewhat apart, remaining as a rule on the periphery of research interests. Being a phenomenon of mass communication and one of the forms of reception of musi-cal practices in the form of printed materials, it was also a product of creative activity, which can also be studied as a phenomenon of artistic communication.
The designated chronological framework makes it possible to identify visual characteristics of the national style as one of the main directions in a wide list of musical publications. The article pays attention to the peculiarities of artistic and stylistic characteristics, the process of creation and technical and technological reproduction of circulation graphics in the musical field.
Key words: applied graphics of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, historiography of design graphics, Russian style in graphic design, visual and graphic communication, mass musical printed products.
