Yanutsh, O. (2024) Intercultural Interaction as an Object of Cultural ResearchAbstract: As a fact of science, "intercultural interaction" was realized only in the middle of the 20th century, and since that time interest in its study has been steadily growing. One of the basic problems that persist in the works devoted to the study of various aspects of intercultural interaction can be considered the lack of clear boundaries between this concept and the concepts of "intercultural communication" and "intercultural dialogue" ("dialogue of cultures"), which are close, but not identical to it. If "intercultural communication" assumes as a starting point the opposition of "Friend and Foe", then the "dialogue of cultures" appeals more to the concept of a "split Self" (V. S. Bybler). In this series, "intercultural interaction" is neither a synonym, nor an umbrella term, nor a generic/specific concept in relation to them. Interaction is an integrating factor of the influence of agents (actors, objects, actors) on each other and the formation of a certain type of integrity. At the same time, the "intercultural" nature of interaction should be interpreted as the interaction of foreign cultural agents, intra-cultural and non-cultural. As a basis for the development of conceptual foundations for the study of intercultural interaction as a specific object of cultural studies, it seems advisable to use the idea of V. S. Bibler about the existence of culture as a "logic of the dialogue of logics", as well as the tools of network approach. The article analyzes the specifics and potential of the proposed theoretical and methodological approach to the study of intercultural interaction, and outlines the conceptual framework for research on the relevant problem field. The phenomenon of Altai ethnosophy is considered as an example representing complex variants of intercultural interactions in the most concentrated and distilled form. Further investigation of the levels, patterns and variables (historical or regional) of intercultural interaction, it seems, may be of significant importance for theoretical, historical, and applied cultural studies.
Key words: intercultural communication, intercultural dialogue, intercultural interaction, agent of interaction, network approach, ethnosophy.
