Motif of Nostalgia for Soviet Reality in Creolized Texts of a Modern Children’s Illustrated BookAbstract: The motive of nostalgia for the Soviet past is considered in the creolized texts of children's books of docufiction by Samokat publishing houses: The History of the Old Apartment (2017), Transsib. Train departs!" (2020) – and "Polyandria": "When grandparents were little ...", book 1-2 (2016, 2019). The creolized text is understood in this case as a text of a syncretic, intermedial nature, combining verbal and visual codes. The article focuses on the illustrations of books and the organization of the verbal narrative. Using semiotic and comparative research methods, the authors find similarities and differences in the structural organization, design of books from different publishers, as well as in the choice and presentation of the attributes of everyday life, embodying the lost values of Soviet life. The books of the two publishers are united by their interest in the events of the Soviet past, the reliance of the book's creators on their own memories and, at the same time, the presence of fictional characters from the point of view of which the reader perceives historical realities. In both groups of books, background plot illustrations alternate with depictions of individual objects taken outside the historical, eventual context.
All books are double-addressed and are designed for the mediation of an adult in presenting the realities of Soviet everyday life. Dialogue is also realized with the help of interactive components of books (task systems, quests, hypertextual transitions). The game approach determines the perception of the theme of the Soviet heritage. The reader himself may be a part of the events in question, or he has the opportunity to directly "communicate" with people who have lived the past decades. To show the communication links between the acting characters becomes the main goal of the authors of the books in question.
The authors of the books leave on the periphery the stable ideological stereotypes of the Soviet past (the image of a pioneer, the motive of socialism, communism, and so on). A private, but important object for the layman – a sign of the era – comes to the fore. The illustrated children's book provides an opportunity for different age groups to consider the problems of self-identification and self-awareness of a person in the national culture through a verbal and visual dialogue of generations.
