Network Culture of Scientific Communities: Self-Organization of Interactive Communications in the Internet Environment

Abstract: The author focuses on the multidimensional socio-cultural space of the modern scientific landscape, the development of which is largely determined by the inclusion of individual and collective subjects of the intellectual sphere in the network culture, which becomes more complicated under the influence of information technology, depends on the readiness of scientists to interact and openness in social communications. The time distance between the early stage of formation of self-developing network expert communities and the current reality, characterized by a variety of forms and channels of dissemination of meanings and values throughout the information and communication space, allows us to speak about the objectivity of the interpretation of network culture. The mechanisms and principles of the formation of "nodes" of the network culture with a powerful self-organizing potential, pulling scientific communities into a complex intellectual core dominated by expert communities are revealed. The position of non-involvement in the Internet space of networks turns out to be intellectually losing for a scientist, since the main ideas, like every text, can be comprehended through inclusion in the general process of consideration, interpretation, discussions, deployment of thought and conceptualization of meanings. Regarding the current state of online culture and the stimulating factors of its spread, the author expresses the position related to the need for further study of the value and communicative conditionality of cognitive activity transferred to the Internet space.
